About the Author:
Ian
Ian Montandon was born in São Paulo, Brazil, but moved to the US when he was 6. He found climbing when he moved to South Carolina when he was 16. There he immediately got hooked and spent a lot of time at the local gym, Climb at Blue Ridge, in Taylors. He started outdoor climbing at Rumbling Bald, but soon found Dixon School Boulders. There he spent his entire college going back and forth to Dixon and a lot of different climbing destinations! He wanted to write this guide to give the community an updated resource with more lines than the original Selected Problems. While the names that are written may not be the correct ones, he did try his best to collect as much information from the locals to be as accurate as he could be. In reality, he just wants people to climb there and find the joy he has found climbing at Dixon all these years. While it’s sharp rock hurts, it’s worth for the interesting sequences, especially when you’re hanging with just friction on some quartz crystal. As of this book, he just graduated College with degrees in Biomedical Engineering and Neuroscience, but you’ll probably find him out at Dixon trying some obscure line that hasn’t been cleaned in 40 years. This was a passion project, something he didn’t even think would be possible when starting but has shaped into so much more, especially with the community support urging to make this into reality.
I just want to say thank you so much for taking the chance to climb at Dixon and have so much fun! Watch out for the briars and climb on.
